THE FIRST ANNUAL DANCE LIKE ELAINE DAY //

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010 by John

Remember watching repeats of Seinfeld and every now and again seeing a few brief seconds of Elaine’s crazy dance moves… you know those little kicks mixed with a few body convulsions.

Well Perth photographer Brad Serls does and last Sunday 19th of September he gather a motley crew outside Borders/David Jones in Hay St. and at 2pm on the dot, with a toast from the man himself and then the sounds of Earth Wind & Fire  - it began… and by 2:03pm it was done!

Here is the first annual Dance Like Elaine Day in photos:

BEAT MAKER X FILM MAKER // 24 HOURS TO COMPLETE A BEAT

Monday, September 20th, 2010 by John

BeatMakerXFilmMakerCut & Paste are teaming up with Paper Chain to pair together beatmakers and filmmakers…

Basically we wanna get beat makers together, pair them up (drawn from a hat) and send them out for the day (bring $15 each so you have a total of $30 to spend) diggin for records/cds/cassettes/anything that can be used to make some beats….depending on how many people are in will determine how many beats are required to be made in this experiment. Then between your selves sort out who’s studio ya wanna go to and make the music. If this sounds like something you would be keen to be a part of then follow the actions below and get in touch.

To also make this a collaboration between artists and media, we will be sending a film crew with each pair to document the whole thing. which also puts the call out towards film makers of any kind that would wanna be apart of this mass collab of ideas and styles.

So for now, we just want to know how would be in to get an idea for heads and availablity. Which brings me to when it will be on….SATURDAY OCTOBER 23RD….MEETING GROUND TBA.

To give you a really good idea of how this might work check out Dublab’s Secondhand Sureshots

Stuff to remember:

The films will be put in the viewing room at the bakery the following week while the 3 on 3 comp is on….so peeps can head in a have a watch

So for now, we just want to know how would be in to get an idea for heads and availablity. Which brings me to when it will be on….SATURDAY OCTOBER 23RD….MEETING GROUND TBA.

The next day will be the Sunday evening that will showcase what all the beat makers had done the day before, in a presentation at The Bakery Complex, along with djs. so keep SUNDAY 24TH OCTOBER Free aswell.

HENRY AND AARON // INTO THE FUTURE

Monday, September 13th, 2010 by Matt

Future ShortKeen lovers of cinema and Cut & Paste will already know about Future Shorts, but for anyone who has come in late: Future Shorts is an international short film event that screens programs of shorts in cool venues. Each month the future shorts people give you a mini festival of mini films.

This month the theme is a ‘best of Europe” affair  featuring Romain Gavras’ highly-controversial music video for ‘Stress’ by Justice, the intensive games of cat and mouse in David O Reilly’s award-winning animation ‘Please Say Something’ and the raw, truthful and tender coming of age tale set in the belly of London Brixton’s “Top Girl”.

Henry and Aaron on the other hand are quite possibly aliens, or maybe they’re the ghosts that haunt old cinemas scaring people with their cold, cold breath…the point is that every now and again they send us film reviews in the form of podcast style recordings.

In this irregularly planned missive Henry and Aaron give us their take on this month’s Future Shorts program, have a listen but then head along to Manhattan’s tomorrow night and check out the movies.

Listen to Henry & Aaron Now!

WHAT: Future Shorts

WHERE: Manhattan’s Victoria Park

WHEN: Tuesday 14/09/10 starting 7:30pm

FACEBOOK: See the Facebook event here

PERTH FASHION FESTIVAL 2010 //

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010 by John

Tickets-On-Sale-Now!

The Perth Fashion Festival returns the Perth CBD for another year. Like last year the team behind Cut & Paste is on board and will be covering a range of events from September 9 – 15.

Here are some of the Cut & Paste picks for this year’s festival:

Popsicle - Returning for it’s third year; Popsicle is the premier event for Perth’s independent fashion designers. Cut & Paste has the opportunity to speak to ten of the designers involved with this year’s event. Stay tuned over the course of the festival as we upload daily designer video snapshots! …We also have a $50 Gift Voucher to giveaway for Popsicle, more details on how to get your hands on that next week.

Fashion Paramount – After a successful move to the Gasworks last year, Fashion Paramount returns once again. Cut & Paste will be capturing shows from Wheels & Dollbaby, Fifteen Minutes, WA Designer Collections, and UP! The Finale… The Cut & Paste Sound System will also be on hand at the Fashion Bar to wrap up Fashion Paramount!

Unwrapped: The Marketplace – Turns the Perth Cultural Centre into an open-market place with one-off designs, jewelry, illustrations and accessories.

Re-Style – this is something close to the heart of the Cut & Paste team, as we generally can’t afford to get our clothing from anywhere except the Op- Shop. Check out the catwalk and workshop that ventures into the world of recycled clothing and how you can make it look catwalk hot!

Avant Garde – Although not ‘officially’ part of the Perth Fashion Festival, the creative heads behind Dilettante, Zekka and Head Studio are putting on an exclusive pre-festival party for the fashion forward thinking.

Cut & Paste will be down at the event as the muses for local label David andor Billy
