What do you get if you cross Pass-the-Parcel with Chinese Whispers, then you complicate things by only letting artists play? The answer, people, is Rounds an exhibition of 29 works created by emerging artists.
Curated by Sarah Rowbottam and opening at PICA Friday June 25, the works challenge you to think about issues such as peer influence and what it really means to be the author or creator of something.
The process invited the artists to make new artworks over four demanding six week cycles, whereby each artist handed over a work to another artist in the group who in-turn made a new piece in response.
The results include full room installations, video works, perpetual motion machines, photography and even swinging structures! Get yourselves down to the Opening this Friday 25 June or drop by next time your in the city, the exhibition runs until August.
The exhibition will accompanied by a 192 page publication edited by Matthew Giles with contributions by eight local writers. The book launches Friday 13 August.
