The Revelation Film Festival is on; bringing to Perth the films you won’t get to see in any multiplex. Already we’ve seen brand new adaptations of classic Sci-Fi in the form of Radio Free Albemuth , the incredibly popular Norwegian film Troll Hunter, late night drive in horror and the magnificent brutality and gun play of “Beat” Takeshi’s Outrage.
Fact lovers get their fill with documentaries on the kinds of subjects they don’t teach in high school: William S. Burroughs A Man Within was a favourite of the Cut & Paste crew and The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye is something you have to see because if you try to explain it to people they look at you with that “were you high when you saw that?” face that says “I think you’re full of shit”.
The festival runs until July 24.
Which brings me to the point of this post…
Every year Revelation asks one of its pals to host a Secret Screening and this year Cut & Paste are hosting the event.
The Secret Screening takes place at 2:15pm on Sunday 24 July at the Astor in Mt Lawley.
We can’t tell you what the film is but we can say that it’s the kind of thing we like..there’s a journey…or maybe we should say trip..and music…you may want to come in your combi van for this one and just like the love, it’s free.
We want to send as many film loving Cut & Pasters to the Revelation Film Festival Secret Screening as possible. So here’s how you can get to be a part of the audience…
If you’re a RevRelation member you are already able to come just flash your membership card on Sunday.
For everyone else we’ve hidden tickets in envelopes under some of the seats in both Cinema One and Cinema Two. All you have to do is go to any movie at Rev and check under your seats to see if you’ve found an envelope.
There are two types of envelope. One contains two tickets to the Secret Screening on Sunday July 24. The second type contains two tickets to the Secret Screening on Sunday AND a copy of Cut & Paste DVD issue number 10 as a present.
If you go down to see Rev today
You’re in for a big surprise,
cos under some seats
Free tickets we did hide,
It’s a secret but you’re invited
from this film your attention will be undivided
